在幾乎人手一機，每個人的雙眼都成為自動攝影機和蒙太奇製造機的當代生活情境中，影像的洪流儼然已經避無可避，其所殷切期盼的動能也迅速落入過剩與疲乏的危機。影像機器在東南亞（甚至是亞洲）的出現，總和科技進步觀以及帝國殖民統治脫離不了關係。然而，身處一個截然不同的歷史、社會以及政治脈絡下，我們可以如何思考或翻轉西方所主導的影像機器和機器影像史觀？從現場電影到棉佳蘭，此講座以講者的創作為軸，重新去思考影像和政治（影像政治非政治影像）、幻象、共同體以及歷史之間的關係。策展人與評論人郭昭蘭如此形容區秀詒的創作，「區秀詒的影像創作是她對影像政治思考的具體實踐。…「棉佳蘭」系列作品，回應着她的出生地馬來西亞，在現代化過程中面臨種種問題與其精神意識。」

講師簡介:
區秀詒，出生長大於馬來西亞，畢業自文化大學戲劇系，舊金山藝術學院（San Francisco Art Institute）電影研究所，目前生活與工作於台北並就讀於台北藝術大學新媒體藝術研究所。區秀詒主要的創作方向分成兩部分，一是對影像生成機製的關注，以自制機械和機械式電影放映機而作的現場電影（live cinema）。二是以錄像、觀念、裝置等混合形式，探討和擴延影像與影像製造以及政治、權力之間的關係。 作品曾入選韓國首爾國際實驗電影節、曼谷實驗電影節、美國Hallwalls 當代藝術中心 Tropical Seasoning、 紐約Squeeky Wheels錄像展、「牯嶺街國際小劇場藝術節：形影相晰」、台灣國際紀錄片雙年展等。區秀詒曾兩次獲得馬來西亞Krishen Jit Astro Fund 。她同時也是馬來西亞燧火評論駐站評論人，並曾擔任2010和2011 KLEX吉隆坡國際實驗電影與錄像節選片人.

Au Sow-Yee was born and grew up in Malaysia, she now lives and work in Taipei, Taiwan. Graduated from Chinese Culture University (Taiwan) majored in theatre arts and attained her M.F.A degree from San Francisco Art Institute (U.S.A). She is currently a graduate student in the Graduate School of New Media Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts. Her works concentrated mainly on two directions, one is the continue interest in image making mechanism, creating live cinema performance using self-made mechanism and mechanical film projectors. Second is to question, explore as well as expand the relation between images, image making, politics and power, through video installation and other mediums. Sow-Yee’s works were exhibited in official selection of Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul (ExiS), Bangkok Experimental Film and Video Festival, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Centre (U.S.A), New York Squeeky Wheels Video Festival, Taiwan International Documentary Festival etc. She was a two times recipients of Malaysia Krishen Jit Astro Fund. Sow-Yee is currently resident writer for Malaysia online magazine Promethean Fire Review and used to be programmer for KLEX (Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film and Video Festival).
